Marigold Comets are a particularly striking colour form of Comet goldfish, valued for their bright yellow to golden-yellow coloration. The name “Marigold” is often used descriptively in the aquarium and pond trade for Comets displaying this rich yellow-gold colour.
Unlike the familiar orange-red Comet, a good yellow specimen can have an almost sunlit, lemon-gold or marigold appearance as it moves through the pond.
What makes the colour interesting?
The yellow colour comes from the fish's pigmentation and the way light interacts with its skin and scales. Young fish can sometimes look quite different from what they eventually become.
As a Marigold Comet grows, its colour may:
- Become brighter and more saturated
- Shift from pale yellow toward golden yellow
- Develop a more even colour across the body
- Become deeper around the back and sides
- Change subtly with age and seasonal growth
- Look dramatically different under sunlight compared with artificial lighting
There can also be considerable variation between individual fish. One Marigold might be a soft lemon yellow, while another is an intense golden-orange yellow.

Orders are shipped each Monday, arriving Tuesday or Wednesday.

Cut-off for weekly shipping is Saturday at 5pm. Orders after this time ship the following Monday fortnight.
If you currently have koi in the pond, you can feed them the same food. add fish food to the order feed australian fish food floating pellets.
