The fish in the photos is the exact fish you receive when you order.
When the temperature soars above 35°C, your koi and pond need extra care to prevent heat stress and oxygen depletion.
High heat reduces oxygen levels rapidly, so the first step is to boost aeration. Run air pumps, fountains, or waterfalls at full strength throughout the day to keep the water moving and oxygen-rich. If possible, add an extra air stone or two during extreme heatwaves. Partial water changes using slightly cooler, dechlorinated water can help stabilize temperatures, but avoid sudden drops that could shock your fish.
Provide as much shade as possible — use floating water plants like lilies, shade cloths, or a canopy over part of the pond. This helps keep water temperatures from spiking and gives your koi a place to retreat from direct sunlight. Stop feeding during the hottest hours of the day, as digestion slows in extreme heat and uneaten food can quickly foul the water. Keep a close eye on your koi for signs of stress such as sluggish swimming, gasping at the surface, or congregating near waterfalls or air stones. If these appear, increase aeration further and perform a small water change. Consistent shading, oxygenation, and careful monitoring will help your koi stay safe and comfortable even during intense heat.
