  • Use a pond test kit to check:

    • Ammonia

    • Nitrites

    • Nitrates

    • pH

    • KH (carbonate hardness)

  • Goal parameters:

    • Ammonia & nitrite: 0 ppm

    • Nitrate: <40 ppm

    • pH: 7.0–8.5

    • KH: 100–200 ppm

  • Add beneficial bacteria (liquid or dry) to boost your biofilter as it wakes up from dormancy.
