About Our Koi

How big will this koi get?
Most koi grow between 45–90 cm with proper space and care. Growth depends heavily on pond size, water quality, and Quality Food.

How do I know this koi is healthy?
All our koi are checked for:

  • Active, balanced swimming
  • Clean skin and scales
  • Clear eyes and intact fins

Will the colours change?
Yes—koi colours develop over time. Varieties like Sanke koi and Showa koi often become more defined as they mature.

Male or female—which is better?

  • Females: Grow larger, rounder (great for display)
  • Males: Slimmer, often more active
  • We dont sex all our koi generally only if they are over 3+ years of age

What size pond do I need? As a general guide:

  • Depth from: 60cms to as deep as you can.
  • Plenty of filtration and oxygen
  • Avoid overcrowding (koi need space to grow)

What do I feed them?
Use high-quality koi pellets once or twice daily, wheatgerm sticks in cooler weather.

Can koi live with other fish?
Yes, they usually live well with goldfish and other peaceful species, as long as smaller fish aren’t at risk of being eaten.

How long do koi live? With proper care, koi can live 20–80+ years.

Where do your koi come from?
Every single koi is bred here at Windsor Fish Hatchery koi & goldfish farm. Which is why we offer a health guarantee on all our fish.

You should also expect to receive the exact fish shown in the photos, ensuring confidence in your purchase.
