Time to Switch to Wheatgerm
Start in autumn, when your pond water begins to cool.
Step-by-Step Feeding Guide
Step 1: Begin the transition
- Mix your regular fish food with wheatgerm
- Start with mostly regular food + a small amount of wheatgerm
Step 2: Gradually adjust
- Over several days to a couple of weeks:
- Increase the amount of wheatgerm
- Decrease the regular food
Step 3: Full switch
- Once temperatures are consistently cooler, feed 100% wheatgerm food
How to Feed in Cooler Weather
- Feed once per day
- Feed in the morning or warmest part of the day
- Only give what your fish can eat in a few minutes
Important Tips
- Fish digest food slower in cold water
- Wheatgerm is easier to digest and reduces waste
- Do not overfeed — uneaten food can harm water quality
