Yamabuki Ogon are koi of a solid, metallic-yellow color. As with other Ogon koi, a clean, unblemished head and body are important.
The first "Yamabuki Ogon" was bred in 1957, a koi-goi being crossbred with an Ogon. Its breeder was Masasuke Kataoka. The colour is a bright, yellowish gold which does not turn blackish in the summer. It is a remarkably beautiful Hikari-mujimono.
Variations of Yamabuki Ogon include Gin Rin Yamabuki Ogon and Doitsu Yamabuki Ogon.
